Evan represented the Blue Bulls at the u/12 and u/13 Craven Weeks. He transferred from Affies to Paarl Boishaai at the end of 2015 after representing Affies as u/14A and u/15A captain. Evan represented Western Province only in the u/18 age groups after sustaining an injury after the Grant Khomo trials which ended his hopes in 2016. After being selected in 2017 for the Western Province u/18 Craven Week team yet another injury just before the Craven Week stopped him to attend the Craven Week. 2018 proved to be his year as he was selected for the SA u/18 Schools Team after performing exceptionally at the 2018 Craven Week.
Evan is a hard man and a devastating ball carrier. He has explosive speed and power which always results in line breaks ensuring his team cross the advantage line every time. He loves the physical part of rugby, hitting rucks and is solid in defence. He is a dynamics link between forwards and backs and with his great awareness on the field always seems to be at the right place at the right time.
Evan's try during the Paarl Boishaai and Paarl Gim Interschools when Sivertsen collected a deep kick, stepping through a couple of tackles before releasing the ball to Evan who sprinted 50m for an excellent try was described by many as the best try ever scored during interschool ever. Certainly, the best I have had the privilege to witness during 2018.
Evan Roos awarded the Player of 2018 a decision that will not be faulted by many.
